Cub Scout Pack 111
Dec 17, 2017
This week, we will not be meeting on Tuesday. Instead, the December Pack Meeting/Cookie Bake
will be on Thursday, Dec 21 st . We will be meeting at the American Legion about 5:30 to help with the cookie baking and do some activities, and then we will hand out achievements, award the fundraising prizes and end the evening with a special visitor.

We will need parents to help manage the activities for the Scouts during the baking.

Also, if you previously offered to helping with baking, please shoot me an email to let me know when
you are available. I plan to be at the Legion most of the day, mixing cookie dough and prepping for
the evening. We will also need some extra equipment, if anyone is share with us for the night. Please
let me know if you have a Kitchen Aid stand mixer, a cookie press for the spritz cookies or any dough
scoops.

Be sure to check into Camp Nanuq registration! This is a great experience for the boys, and
those dates are coming up soon. There are 6 weekends available, starting Jan 13. Some
weekends are specifically for Webelos (I & II) and some weekends are specifically for the
younger Scouts – click here for more info and to register.

Den Leaders – be sure to get your den advancements entered into Scoutbook as soon as possible. If
you have any questions about this, contact Jen Wornson.

Also, we have had some complaints about Scout behavior at the church during and after den
meetings. We are very fortunate that the church allows us to use their space every week and it is
important that we respect it. Without their generosity, our Pack would have to rent space at one of the
local schools, and the cost for multiple rooms every week would have to be reflected in higher Scout
dues. Please encourage your sons to show their best Scout behavior at the church, and please keep
a closer eye on them while in the building.

Thank you to the Lincoln Carnival volunteers – it was a very busy night, and a great way to represent
Pack 111.
The December Pack Meeting/Cookie Bake is coming up on Thursday, Dec 21 st . We will be
meeting at the American Legion about 5:30 to help with the cookie baking, and then we will hand out
achievements, award the fundraising prizes and end the evening with a special visitor.
We could still use a few parents to run activities for the Scouts during the baking.
Camp Nanuq registration is open! Camp Nanuq is a winter Cub Scout program based out of
Miller Castle on the Parker Scout Camp property. Campers will arrive Saturday morning,
receive their room assignments, and then get ready for some outdoor fun!
It is a great chance for dens to build friendships and spend some time together. If you are interested
in going, take a minute on Tuesday to check out schedules and see if there is a weekend that works
best for your den.

Oct 22, 2017

In spite of a few rain drops, Family Camp was a hit! Thank you so much to everyone who helped, especially Ginger Kupka for overseeing the event, and taking on all the planning and coordinating!

Don't forget that this Tuesday, our October Pack Meeting will be at the Monticello Community Center, and will include optional rock climbing after the meeting. We will start the meeting at 6:45 to allow for plenty of time climbing. There will be a $5 charge per Scout for the rock climbing, and the waiver must be completed. (follow the link)

Webelos: The Boy Scouts Troop 111 invite you to Scout Island on October 28th from 10am-2pm.Scout Island is across Hwy 10 from the YMCA. There will be fun activities, hobo dinners and it is a great chance to meet the Scouts and leaders from Troop 111. An email will be coming tomorrow with all the details and a map.
They are looking for RSVPs to know how many to plan on, so please let us know whether your Scout will be able to attend.

As the Pack grows, so does the need for volunteers to help keep everything going smoothly. There are a few positions open right now, such as Fundraiser Chair, Pinewood Derby Committee and Asst Committee Chair. It is also a great idea to have 2 Den Leaders for each den, to offer coverage for scheduling conflicts during the scouting year.

The annual Veteran's Day Concert at Zabee Theater is on Thursday, Nov 9 this year. Every year, we encourage the Scouts from Pack 111 to attend this great event, and some years we volunteer to hand out programs and flags before the concert. We are waiting to hear back about the volunteer opportunity, but encourage everyone to put it in their calendar and join us that evening.

April 9, 2017

Happy Spring Break!!   No Scout meetings this Tuesday

Next week, UMC is hosting Great River Family Promise. We will be unable to use the facilities at the church. Check with your den leader to see if your den will be meeting off-site, or if your son will have the night off.

We have received final confirmation for the The Tree Planting Service Project from the local Boy Scouts. This project is in coordination with the Sherburne Soil and Water Conservation District. It will be on Saturday, April 29 from 9am - 12pm at Hillside City Park. This park is just east of Walmart at 10801 181st Ave NW, Elk River. Dress appropriately for the weather, bugs and poison ivy. This will be in and near a woods - long pants and closed toe shoes are a must. Plan to bring round pointed shovels, gloves and 5 gallon buckets, if possible. They will provide 300 bareroot trees and water, and we will provide the labor and a few tools. Rain or Shine event.

As of today, there have been very few responses to the inquiry about a Spring Family Camp. This is a one night outing at the Elk River Girl Scout camp, with both indoor bunks and outdoor space for tents. Please respond to this email and let me know if you are interested in this outing, so we can start planning if we have enough families responding.
