Adventure in the Woods Finding your Way

for “explorers” who are going into 2nd Grade

Guide Holly Carlson will help Wolves earn this Elective Adventure Loop by completing these requirements with their leaders:

We’ll use computer maps to find your hometown; show us where you live! Draw a map of your neighborhood and tells us about your town. Where is your school, where do your friends live?

What kinds of snacks do you like to eat, where does it come from? Show us on the globe or map.

Discuss different kinds of maps and how they help us find our way! Learn how to use the tools on a map and plan a trip.

We’ll go on a scavenger hunt using a compass, who knows what treasures we may find!

Take a hike! Using a map and compass, let’s explore the woods at Parker Scout Camp. What kinds of nature will we see along the way?

Fish Camp!  A Bear Goes Fishing for boys

who are going into 3rd Grade

Bears will earn this Elective Adventure Loop by completing the requirements with their leaders:

Identify different types of local fish and their habits and habitats, and which ones are good to eat!

Discuss and demonstrate the importance of Fishing Regulations through games and projects, because rules aren’t always fun, but they are important.

Learn about different fishing equipment and make a simple fishing pole.

Practice casting at a target, how far can you cast a line? Challenge your friends to outcast you!

Let’s go fishing! On the pontoon and off the dock, using the things you have learned about fish and fishing gear. All fishing will be catch and release, but stories and pictures will be shared at the campfire on Saturday night!

More activities may include tying flies, practicing with a fly rod, making lures, and tying knots, etc.Your guides will be Levi Muhlenkamp and Doug Diedrichsen.

Medieval Times - A castle based theme experience for boys going into grades 1-5

Have you ever slept in a castle? Built a catapult or saved a damsel in distress?  Have you ever dreamed of being a knight of the round table?

Okay, there may not be a distressed damsel, but there is a little bit of something for everyone in Medieval Times!  This program is not based on an adventure, but plenty of adventure awaits!  You will have jousting matches, shield making, and feats of skill and teamwork! Join Phil Dahlheimer as we explore the past in the castle adventure!

NEW THIS YEAR!

Decide which items you will need to carry with you on an adventure which are important for survival.

Invent a game that everyone can play at camp, and teach it to others.

Create a plan for safety in the woods, practice purifying water, and learn emergency signals and practice rescue techniques!

Practice leading the group in problem solving activities, and better understand the Scout Oath and Law.

Requirement 2b, (live off the grid for a week) will need to be done at home.
