Cub Scout Pack 111

April 24th,  2016

A quick heads up for this Tuesday - if your den meeting is at the church, please use street parking, as the entire parking lot has been torn up. This project started earlier than expected, but there is still sidewalk access to the doors on Main Street. Please use extra care in the area due to the large equipment.
The Webelo I den will be meeting at Scout Island at 6:30 to complete the adventure they were working on last week, weather permitting. If possible, bring a folding chair.

Thank you to the families who have already signed up for the Lincoln Carnival. Unfortunately, at this time, we still have a lot of unfilled time slots, and if we do not get more volunteers, we will not be able to participate. This is an excellent way for the Scouts to maintain a presence in the schools, and we are only asking for 30 minute shifts to help run a game - the Piggy Races. We will provide the prizes, and any volunteers will get in free. We ask that the Cub Scouts wear their uniforms to help spread the word about Scouting. April 29th-May 1st is the Den Leader and Adult Leader Training at Parker Scout Camp in Nisswa. For only $35, you spend the weekend at the Castle, and get tons of training required for Cub Scouts. We already have at least one parent going, and it would be great to have a few more. Some of the training offered is Youth Protection, required by all adults working with the Pack and BALOO, which is required for any Pack camp-out, such as Family Camp last October. It is very important that we have these trainings done. They are available online, but this weekend is going to be a lot more interesting and educational than the online version  :)
Info is attached, or contact me if you have any questions.

Cub Scout Graduation is Tuesday, May 3rd.We will be having our ceremony and potluck at Lion's Park.
The Pack will provide hot dogs, buns and chip, as well as plates, napkins and silverware.
We are asking each den to provide additional dishes for the meal. There are approximately 35 Scouts and their families.
Tigers: beverages
Wolves: fruit or veggies
Bears: desserts
Webelos I: side dishes

Saturday May 7th is the spring Tree Planting Service Project. Cub Scouts get to work with area Boy Scout Troops and the Sherburne Soil and Water Conservation District to plant 400 bare root trees to help reforest local parks. This year it will be at Woodland Trails Park, 20135 Elk Lake Rd, from 9-12 - rain or shine. This is a great chance to be active outside with the boys, and also a great service for the community.
Dress appropriately, as we will be in the woods - long pants, sturdy shoes and gloves. If possible, bring round pointed shovels, 5 gallons buckets and a wheelbarrow.
